“View change as the one constant in your life. Welcome it. Expect it. Anticipate it. Denis Waitley

Change has definitely been a constant in my life. Nik and I made the decision back in June/July to move to CA so that I could do my Ph.D program on campus rather than continue attending online from Portland, OR. This decision was also made based on the absolute lack of jobs in the area. Since we made that decision, our lives have been full of change.

On August 3rd, just three days after the Gender (Free) For All Portland pride event and march we packed up the rental truck and drove down to my parents place in Twain Harte, CA. Since that time we have been living in a the detached garage with all of our tuppers packed to the ceiling and our three cats. We drive down to the Bay Area on an almost weekly basis for my school, job interviews, and/or apartment hunting.

With the economy and our eagerness to get down into our own place the rollercoaster ride of job interviews that seem to point to an offer only to end in a decision to go with another candidate, has been trying on the nerves. But somehow, through it all, I have retained my trust in the looneyverse to provide. And it is. There seem to be some pretty amazing opportunities being offered as we continue to do our part, ask for what we need, and trust that the looneyverse knows exactly what we need.

It has been a tremendous encouragement to have Nik by my side. His trust that everything will work out encourages me not to give up hope. Together, we have made it through each challenge. It is this demonstrated grace under pressure that keeps me believing that our moment is just around the corner.

I am excited by the potential that currently lies before us. I am trusting that change is again on its way and brings with it the charge of what will be.
